Formed in 1998 on the initiative of town crier Roy Harkness and local journalist Angela Birchall, the Heritage Association aims to promote an interest in the history and heritage of West Lancashire. The Association is a Registered Charity and organises regular events where the history of the area is discussed. We aim to extend our activities to provide information resources to local schools and other organisations and eventually a local museum to display information and artefacts from the area.
Membership is open to all who are interested in the history and heritage of West Lancashire. We hold regular meetings at Hurlston hall Golf Club, Scarisbrick and all are welcome. For more information click to contact the Membership Secretary. Bob Ireland robertireland1947@hotmail.com
Forthcoming Programme of Events for 2019 -2020 All events are at 7.30pm, Hurlston Hall, Golf Club, Scarisbrick, L40 8HB, unless otherwise stated.

2019 -20 Programme
------------ Dear Friends and Members, Monday 16th March 2020
Because of the fast moving events with the Coronavirus ( Covid-19 ) all meetings of West Lancashire Heritage Association are now cancelled until further notice, including the meeting planned for Wednesday this week, March 18th.
Many of our members are over 70 and are amongst the most vulnerable to this virus, and will no doubt be self distancing if not self isolating themselves. We will reinstate this page in due course, when things improve
In the meantime please keep yourselves as safe as you can do; best wishes and very good luck everyone.
Bob Ireland On behalf of the committee -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Members of West Lancashire Heritage Association,
I do hope you are all keeping well and staying safe.
As you know, at this time of year, we would normally be asking for Membership Renewals and sending out a new programme. Unfortunately, owing to the continuing danger of Covid 19, we are unable to call a meeting at the moment or in the immediate future, - until at least Spring 2021, when the 'flu season is over and perhaps we may by then have a vaccine against this virus?
Our Committee has decided, after careful consideration, that we cannot safely meet again until we can mix more freely than we can at present. The new room downstairs, which we have been allocated at Hurlston Hall, is considerably smaller than the one we had become used to upstairs, so maintaining sufficient social distance would not be possible.
The age-group of most of our membership is also not in our favour, taking into account the effects of the virus on the senior members, so we must play safe.
Hence, the Membership Subscription Renewals will be suspended until 1st September 2021. I know that many of you more youthful members will be disappointed with this decision, but we believe it is the best option for all concerned, including our speakers.
With very best wishes to you all, Bob Ireland, Hon. Membership Secretary, on behalf of the WLHA Committee.
